For the undergraduate course of Allied Health Sciences, a Bachelor's degree RT program is established in 2015 to develop human resources of medical professionals involved in RT. The program is the collaboration between the Department of Radiological Technology and Medical Physics, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences and the Department of Radiology, Faculty of Medicine at Chulalongkorn University.
Aims of the program are to develop the Radiological Technologist qualified to
1. Create the medical images of various body parts and various body functions
2. Operate the radiologic equipment such as X-ray, Mammography, Computed Tomography (CT), Ultrasonography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Linear accelerator machine
3. Setup and deliver the radiation dose to the patients4. Instruct and assist the patients while performing radiologic examination and treatment
5. Recognize emergency patient conditions and initiate lifesaving first aid
Overview of Educational Curriculum
The Bachelor of Science Program in RT offers a 4-year course to impart necessary RT knowledge and to train the students who wish to work in the field of diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine and radiation therapy. Education for RT includes lecture, laboratory, clinical experience and research
Number of student recuited: 30 students
Credits: - General subjects 30 credits
- Specific subjects 105 credits
- Elective subjects 6 credits
Requirements
Students entering the RT program should be interested in Human anatomy, Sciences, Mathematics and have a good communication skill, a focus on detail and work well with others will be successful in this program. This program generally admits students through the entrance examination operated and administered by the Ministry of Education process each year. The other channels of admission are directly through CU-rural project, the outstanding student projects, as well as some other projects. Students who apply and meet the minimum selective admission criteria will be considered.
Career Possibilities
Radiological Technologists work in hospials, clinicas, medical centers, private physician offices or even mobile imaging service centers. While hospitals remain the leading job providers, they also trend to work in industry, medical company and public health organization.
Licensing and Certification
License for professional practice is awared by the Professional Radiological Technology Committee after passing the certification exam.
